The Widows Mite
The Widows Mite

The story of the Widows Mite is a story of us all. There are times in each of our lives when feel we have nothing to give, but we give anyway. I think of a mother tired and worn with her own worries sweetly making dinner for a sick neighbor. I think of the old man next door whose wife just died who still smiles at the person passing by. It may not be ostentatious, it may seem so small, but if we are giving our all, it is enough. In honor of all those who have quietly blessed my life, and for all those who give in their want, ALL proceeds from this picture will go to charity.

For She Loved Much
For She Loved Much

“For She Loved Much” is a piece inspired from the story in Luke chapter seven. It is a story of a woman who came to the house of a Pharisee whom Jesus was at meat with. She fell at the feet of the Savior and bathed his feet with her tears. The Pharisee’s thought it wrong for him to allow her to do this because she was a “sinner.” Christ’s forging reply was “Wherefore; I say unto thee, her sins which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much…” I have always loved this story because it is such a beautiful reminder of how Christ is always welcoming us back, always.

Breath from Heaven
Breath from Heaven

I have often wondered and wanted to capture the feelings and emotions Mary must have felt knowing she was carrying the Son of God. Did she ever wonder what his life would become, would she or even could she have fully comprehended what this little baby would mean to the world? When I first set out to draw this picture I wanted to show the worry and concern that undoubtedly troubled her soul. But as I drew I ended up drawing a woman not scared but rather wrapped up in love for her child. I realized that although she must have had much anxiety, when she first held him all would have dissipated if but for a moment. So as I drew, I did my best to capture something so many women can relate to, the magical moment when a mother first holds her child.

The Advocate
The Advocate

“The Advocate” was a labor of love for me. It is a piece I thought about for a while before I had the courage to put it to paper. The idea of capturing the Savior of the world is definitely a daunting task but like a child’s first time at the pulpit, this is my first attempt at bearing my testimony of the Savior through art. This piece was inspired by a quote by Elder Holland that states “After the incomprehensible cost of the atonement he will not turn his back on us now.” I wanted to show the prints in his hand, I wanted to feel him praying for every injustice, every pain, and every person who needed him to plead their cause.
